How good or useful is a tractor rake?

I guess I just need to borrow my brothers rake and see how well it works for my needs and then I will know if I wanna pull the trigger. I have a grapple already but still think a rake could be useful.

I was planning to get a rake to clean up my woods after the buckthorn was pulled out and the smaller ones mulched up last spring. After talking with a few people, I decided to leave it and let nature take its course and let it decompose.

I'll look at it next spring, there is small growth of buckthorns coming up now. I may use the mower to knock it down then.

I guess I'll soon have 40 attachments!
I recently got a stump grinder which does a great job but leaves a foot deep pile of chips and dirt. I have 40 pines all in a row to do.
I was thinking about a rake like this TSC or similar.
1) if I use it for small limbs, sticks or leaves does it work for that?
2) does it damage the lawn. I have hydraulic top link so I can change angle
3) It won't get a lot of use. What's the best bang for the buck?
4) 6ft.? (50hp Deere)
5) We have a horse paddock that's compacted with sand on it. It's about 50x60, level & hard as concrete. Horse piles I clean area every 2 weeks or so. Would it work for that?
I have a 7ft rear blade or sometimes just the FEL bucket...but I then have to put a little more sand down.
6) Is it useful for anything else?

Thanks so much...View attachment 4265190
Have you thought about a mounted broom . That way you can use it for more tasks also

I read none of the posts but have used rakes like this for 50 years, homeowner and commercially. They will not damage your lawn but will also not adequately gather the chips. They are already gathered at the stump. I have a stump grinder and when I'm done use an aluminum scoop shovel, a rake and get what I can. Put some dirt in the hole and after a year or two the grass will fully fill in and look great. Grass grows though some chips but not too many. I've done threads on chips and stumps and grass so search if interested. Leaf blowers disperse the few chips out in the lawn.

**Wider is better. 8 ft is what I have and you should too. Pay up and get a heavier one since weight matters. Light ones bounce over things and make a mess. Narrow won't cover your tracks at an angle.

**They rake dirt best if's it's 100% powdered dusty. If not clean it will pick up any twigs, stones or bunched grass and that will pile up dirt and make a mess.

**They work great in a driveway as long as the stones aren't too big. Bank-run gravel works great as does 1/2" and down to dust crushed.

**The best kept secret of the landscape or rock rake is that they plow powery snow great. Drive over the snow with the rake flat to the ground and at an angle and an 8 ft like will just plow it aside and not pick up gravel if it's frozen or you have some experience under your belt.

**Using for grading with a tractor with draft control is an another thing. I could make acres as smooth as glass and put in large grasses so flat that people would stop and take pictures. There are threads on draft control as well.

I've heard that you can plow snow with a landscape rake, but never tried it. Never understood why it might work better than a blade, but maybe the tine arrangement allows any gravel that it picked up to fall through while the snow is lighter and keeps rolling sideways?

I'm going to have to remember to break out the rake and try it sometime.

For me it would be used for picking out smaller embedded rocks and branches up to 1" that litter the trails and back area.
How does everyone think that would work?

I have a small dethatcher and hardly use it, won't move small rocks and gets clogged with small branches, leaves etc.
