How far is your commute?

3200+ miles round trip 4-5 times a month for the last 15 months. Oh, for the days of just a 40 mile round trip. It does make the dogs happy when I come home though.

Not a commute in the true since, but I commute 190 miles to the airport, then take three plane for a total of about 2100 miles. Then two weeks later I turn and do it in reverse.

Only good thing is I only do it every two weeks. :thumbsup:

I first heard about the 1000+ mile commute when my wife worked in Alaska one summer. A guy lived in Las Vegas and worked in one of the Alaska flight service stations. He commuted 12 times a year, worked all his day for the month,went home for the rest of the month :confused2:

I'm fortunate to be able to work from home (for the past 15 years). My commute is one flight of stairs to my basement office.

I could work wearing my house coat & fuzzy pink slippers if it wasn't for those darn web cams.

I have been few times in Malabo. Did some work in the Methanol and gas plant.

I was just wondering how far most of you commute to work. My commute is 90 miles one way, yep 180 miles a day.

I do have the farthest commute of those I work with, however, one has about 77 miles one way, two have about 60 miles one way, one 40 something, one about 20 and the other three live within 10 miles.

So am I totally nuts like some people claim (maybe for other reasons) or are there many others that have a long commute.

I tried doing a search to see if this topic was covered before but came up blank.

Same. I have guys that do things without me so I don't have to drive in everyday unless it's underground jobs. So 2-3 days a week.

Ive been doing about 55 miles each way since Sept. 1995 And that's commuting in one of the worst traffic environments in the coutry - our Nations Capitol metro area - 495 / 270.
A good cup of coffee and the satelite radio keed me sane. I also remind myself of the experiences I had driving overseas for Uncle Sam and this is not so bad - DC has nothing on downtown Seoul and they don't shoot at you like other places I've been (at least not without provocation!)!

Actually, the drive changed for the better about a year ago -- the owner asked my wife to come in and help with the office stuff temproarily (she would often cover for people out on vacations / or help with special projects like yearly inventory) - she's still going in with me every day. I now get to run the HOV lane legally while the rest sit parked on the highway.:laughing:
We both enjoy the time together talking - or consoling each other when it's been a bad day.

Over the years I've gotten good at dodging the worst traffic and I can usually detour around stuff like accidents / construction work well enough to make the trip in only slighlty longer time.

As others said - weather can cause havoc - snow being the worst. The rushour snow storm we had this past winter made the trip home take from 5pm to about 2am:confused2: that beat the heck outta the previous record of 3 hrs through a little snow shower and a couple hours spent waiting for LEO's to search all the vehicles when we had the nutcase sniper thing going on.

Retired for the last 4 years so now the only commute is the 15 miles into town. But my last three years working I had a 1300 mile commute. Sold out before the real estate market really tanked and moved to God's country. The difference in house payments paid for my airfare with the help of the air miles.

38 miles round trip. Usually takes me 27 minutes to get home after clocking out.

I'm retired so wherever I want to go or do.

Today I'm driving 23 miles to a rent house to finish cleaning an hour or two. Also load cleaning stuff to bring home, that's it.

Hubbies commute will be half way around the world every 10 weeks.

from the down staires door to the shop door is 75 steps I walk it every day. may be I am pretty lucky huh?

I go from the Roberts creek area of the sunshine coast into Vancouver city every day, it involves a 40 min ferry ride, 15 mins to get to the ferry and 40 mins on the other side...
I ride most days my motorcycle K1300r which is an amazing bike and gets first on first off with no line ups on the ferry...
Other days I take my f250 which is not as much fun but oh well

about 5 miles one way. I use to do 60 miles one way but I finally could not take the waste of time.
