hey, any chance of killing the caps? it is like "yelling and screaming ya'er head off" when ya put things in all caps. if ya have a problem reading smaller size text. and you are doing caps so it is easier to read. there be a better way of making all the text size bigger and/or smaller.

go up to "view" then goto "zoom" then "+" plus sign or zoom in.

as far as your original post, never needed to go on road. but a good amount of farmers around here. drive any were from 1/2 mile to 5 miles up to 20 miles a day on a tractor just on the road. it all depends on planting season to harvest season, and everything in between that may come up.

Sorry Boggen! Wow I thought just driving three miles was alot, forgot about the acreage size of farms/fields etc.

don't worry to much about caps, was not trying to get on your or anything. just say hey.

for me, it is a 1/2 mile drive down a dirt lane to get back to a lake / cabin. on 80 acre farm and that is just one way. if i am moving stuff, i could easily do 30 trips back and forth between house/shed and back down into pasture. so about 15 miles in a day just driving on a old dirt lane. granted this is not an every day occurance, and more like rare thing for me. but...

for folks moving "round bails" dealing with removing / putting in new fence. bush hogging / rottory cutter. adds up miles.

but in farming it is more about hours than miles. reason ya see "hour meters" on tractors and "miles" on vehicles. and with implements and like, it comes down to width of implement and acreage and size tractor. and speed you can move. you can only go so fast before things start breaking, or not doing as good of a job. or having enough tractor power / traction.

Boggen, I'm new to tractors etc. As mentioned i just use this in the winter months etc. In a night i can put anywhere from 2-8 miles just driving from stop to stop, let alone just working the FEL to move snow, just want to make sure im not abusing this thing driving around etc, however, like you stated, a lot of others 'daily' put much much more then i do, say a few times a month or how many snowstorms we get etc. i guess these tractors are meant to work.

Well, usually I don't use my tractors on a daily basis though during the summer months close to it.

One of our farms is four miles away and I will run a tractor up there and back some times and then drive all over an 80 acre farm mowing paths, so the miles pile up.

The farm on which is live is 331 acres more or less and to get from one section to the other, I have to run a quarter miles on the county road and a half on "field roads sometimes making quite a few trips back and forth if I am hauling dirt or rock.

I bush hog along the roadways on both sides and then several acres on the property itself.

It really is hard to tell how many miles I drive, but sometimes it sure seems like a lot.

My wife and I both have quads. We never use the tractors for transportation or hauling brush. I have put 180 miles on my quad since April oil change and have not been off the property.

Driving the tractor from job to job is not a problem at all. Just use 2WD.

I used to occasionally drive my little Kubota 8 miles to my brother's place or 4 miles to a brother-in-law's place, or a little more than a half mile to a 30 acre place I mowed for someone else. This was on farm-to-market roads on which I might see as many as 3 or 4 cars on a trip, or I might see none.

With the big old Oliver, cutting and baling hay, it was sometimes as much as 12 to 15 miles one way on the farm-to-market roads.

How many have insurance that at least covers liability damages while your tractor is off your property?

My insurance covers me going from one farm to the other, but no place else. Of course, I don't go anyplace else.

I have full insurance They make road tractors. When corn bales were a big thing they used to run all over the place. They could hit about 50 MPH and haul 12 round bales on a auto load wagon.

Racking up road miles doesn't harm the tractor, as long as you remember to disengage the 4wd and avoid being hit by distracted drivers jawing on the cellphone. Safely roading a tractor has something to do with how much traffic there is. I felt somewhat safer after putting a rearview mirror on the tractor. At least now I can see what's coming up behind and whether they see me and are slowing up.

Paved roads are kind of hard on the tire treads though, particularly with R1 Ag's. R4's have harder rubber and less aggressive tread, so the wear's not as bad. It's also important to keep your tire pressures up - always a good idea regardless  - when running in road gear. If a tire is low, the tractor will pull to one side or get to bouncing as it goes at higher speeds.

As long as it's farming related, covered under farming rider to H.O. Policy. Does cover use on public roads.

The key thing is to make sure you are in 2WD while on the roads, I did tear the 4wd out of a cub while using it on pavement,,,,,the OP said he had plates on his tractor, so one would assume he has insurance

10 miles each way to a food plot that I am working for a guy. And I have forgot an had in 4WD while on the road. Thank god there were no problems.

About once-twice a month I drive my BX2360 a mile down the road to my buddy to help him out with some of his lawn chores. (I consider it added seat time!)
