Anybody grow their own sweet potato slips. I decided to give it a try. Got a couple to respond, but now what do I do?

This might help.

Since today was a good viney day I got the Philippine pole beans planted in the field corn. The corn is 4-6" tall. That should be enough of a head start. Also got in a row each of three different kinds of pumpkins and replanted the skips in the acorn squash, Armenian cucumbers, banana cantaloupe, Charleston Gray and Crimson Sweet melons. Ran out of time before I got to cukes, zukes and squash. There is always tomorrow.

Also want to put some of the above seeds in trays. The ones I started that way are bigger than the ones planted in the ground at the same time.

Shot of the beans as of today, pulled the cultivator through them Sunday had to go back through and uncover some of the butter beans but the pole peas did great. Corn is still way too small to even photograph well.

Heading to Southern States tomorrow to pick up 100# of Kennebec seed and fertilizer for the tater patch. My neighbor approached me last year about letting him plant potatoes on my land so this will be our second year planting them together. He was fond of Yukon golds and I the Kennebecs last year and we had a good crop. We harvested 1100#s total but the Kennebecs out produced the golds so this year he wants to plant all Kennebecs. So the next few days I will get some seat time in with disc and the KK tiller gosh I love this time of year so full of hope for a bountiful year.
Larro I've wanted to start my own slips for sweet potatoes but haven't yet. I do have some sweets left from last year just maybe I'll try.

Spent a little while going back over the mud patch, aka garden plot, with the tiller trying to help fluff it to dry it out. Barring any rain event I should be able to hit it again Friday evening and possibly plant the seeds I have this weekend.

We need water, and we need dry, just hard to get one or the other at the right time!

Yep. I've had my fill of the water for a little while. Somewhere around 16" total for March.

I've had some big rains too. 3 3/4" last weekeknd, and a couple during the week before. Twice I've had to use the stirrup hoe to loosen up the dirt where it's been packed by heavy rain.

Today I'm planting okra, plus the skips in the soybeans, green beans and sweet corn. Also putting 8 or 10 kinds of pepper and two tomato seeds in trays. I only did about 6 of each kind the first planting, forgetting how many plants I usually give away.

I was able to get out before work and plant the skips in the field corn this morning. Took a few pictures.

The over-wintered peppers, ACP and Jalapeno. Seed trays. Strawberries {transplanted on Tuesday}. Tomatoes, pepper and green onions in the trench.
