Hidy Ho fellows, I see you fellows have gotten off to a good start for spring planting. Here in Southwest Va. It's getting warm enough to begin thinking of ground preparations. It's also getting off to a wet start, I plowed 2/3 reds of last years garden area Saturday morning the last 1/3 was just to dog gone wet I couldn't get traction. My quess is it still 4-6 six weeks before the ground warms enough to really get serious with planting. I'm hoping to get some lettuce and onions in soon and my neighbor is planning on planting potatoes in a plot on my land soon. Last year we planted Keenebec and Yukon Golds his were the golds which are a favorite of his but my Kennebec did so well he has abandoned the idea of Yukons so we are planting 100# of Kennebecs together.
The frame for the green house I put together in the shop last year is still in the shop. The kids were suppose to help the wife get it out and installed ( I can't work with heavy things) but no help as of yet. What a shame because we could have been starting seedlings already so it looks like I'll be buying plants and slips for this years planting seeds.
As the season progresses I will again look forward to sharing posts and pics with all you fine fellows. This is my favorite season and thread. Though I really enjoy gardening and the outdoors I am disabled and spend to much time in bed resting so reading this thread helps make up for of the lost times outside and all of the others here that help to make my garden so that I may contribute here as well. To all happy gardening
