Tiller How does the KK storage leg work?

I've tried the support leg but it keeps slipping and the tiller falls forward. I even welded a sharp stud on the lower end to keep it from sliding forward. nothing works. Do you guys use something else or move it to a different location??

I am not sure about a support leg but I leave mine setting on a couple of blocks under both ends. It seems to work well and is fairly solid when sitting on them. And, I can just back up to it with my quick hitch, raise the 3pt, hook up the pto and go.

Glad you wrote this. I was thinking about adding a support. I have been using a jack stand for a support. It works....but may be overkill. :laughing:

This what I do. Much easier than messing around with a support leg.
If the blocks are positioned right the PTO can be hooked up without lifting the unit.

I'm glad you asked jobguy. mine works just like yours, so I added the optional 4x4 block on the other end of my tiller. Works great now ! I don't even bother with the KK tip stand anymore. I do like the tiller ! :thumbsup:

I'm not sure what you mean about the 4x4 block. Do you have a pic?
Sometimes if I can get 4x4 blocks 3 feet long under the adjustable skids which are attached to the tiller I can get unhooked ok. There must be a better method.

If the leg looks like this one, it should hold fine. You can see in this picture it holds the tiller tilted back on it's shoes, and the leg is very solid. You have to hinge the leg out and around as you rotate it to get it into the proper position, and then it locks in place against the stud welded to the side of the tiller. The stud is there to stop the rotation and hold it in place so it doesn't slide.

I will look for the stud you are talking about when I go out today. Perhaps a stand on both ends of the tiller would work. I do see in one of the posts the wood blocks under both ends which looks to be better than the single stand that came with the tiller. I have to store stuff outside and have a source of pallets to keep items off the ground. Outside storage seems to work fine if you can keep water and leaves from becoming trapped and causing rust. I have a couple of those garage in a box type buildings and they work well provided you anchor each leg and add wind bracing.

If it isn't holding, you've got the leg folded the wrong way. Fold it the complete opposite direction, then rotate around again so the leg faces forward. If it doesn't seem right, rotate around in the other direction. It only stops in the correct spot one way. The other ways won't stop the leg and the tiller will fall.

Galaxy428 is doing exactly what I am, I just set min on 4x4's. makes it much easier to connect the PTO.

NSPEC: You are exactly correct, The Leg only holds the tiller from fall over in one position (when the metal stub sticking out the side of the tiller keeps the leg from rotating). My fault, operator error.......

I would like to know how many times KK actually got one of these to work and then sent them out the door for us to fiddle with what a cruel joke and a waste of money if you ask me! :laughing:

I use the lower section of the crate mine came in to set mine on and that keeps it off the ground and actually sets it solid for the next hook up that works great. :thumbsup:

As long as I take it off there and not at some other location then its usually a fight to hook it back up again @ 700+ pounds they are not easy to man handle back upright.
