How can I determine my trailer's load capacity?

What ever you do make sure you check the tires first. Look at the load rating on them. This could be the limiting factor.

Yooper, I called them and spoke directly to them. They are local to me. They are just a dealer and they did NOT ever sell a 5x12, noir did they make mine.

Thanks.
David

Oh, OK.
Thanks and sorry.

Yooper,

No blood, no foul. They fooled me for at least 5 minutes on the phone until I got her to admit they are "JUST" a dealer...

It is all good sir.
Be well,
David

I have learned, by making mistakes, that trying to save a little time and money by loading valuable equipment onto an inadequate vehicle can end up costing a lot more time/money if all doesn't go to plan. I sure wouldn't drive a heavy vehicle on that gate.

Maybe your trailer is what ProLine calls a 6 x 12?
All their single axle trailers have a 3500 lb. axle.
I suspect the trailer weighs under 1K leaving approx. 2500 lb. for load.
Tractordata lists the CT122 at 2056 lbs plus another 628 lb if it has the loader w/ bucket. That puts it close to 2700 lb.
Probably pushing the limits of that trailer.

ONLY if it has a loader.

And you can also add the tongue weight. If the loader is that light (I was thinking heavier), you would probabally be ok even w/the loader. Since ~500lbs of tongue weight isnt going to be felt by the axle.

George,

#1 - I have a Tape Measure, and I'm NOT AFRAID TO USE IT! It is a 5x12. HONEST. :D

#2 - The ProLine web site is for a dealer here in Virginia, Local to me in fact in the same area code. and this trailer was purchased in Georgia (according to the sticker on it, and according to the USMC Colonel I bought it off of, and I SPOKE TO THEM THIS MORNING. They never carried a 5x12.

#3 - I've pretty much given up on my trailer to haul the buddies tractor...

Be well George. We are all in this together.

LD1 - I did say IF it had a loader. It wasn't mentioned so I wasn't sure.
David - I don't doubt you have measured it. Yours definitely says Pro-Line. I just thought maybe your 5 x 12 is what Pro-Line calls their 6 x 12 or there was another Pro-Line trailer company that built yours. Either way it still only has a 3500 lb. axle.
I have 3 trailers. One similar trailer to yours (but mines only 5 x 10). I only use it for the ATV or riding mower (800-1000 lb. items). Anything bigger or heavier goes on or in one of my other trailers.

George,

I think it is too risky.

Two big Harley's is this trailer's limit.

I was thinking about making it a firewood hauler someday, but that might be too heavy.
