How hot is too hot for a synchroshift geared tranny with 10 wt. hydraulic/transmission fluid? Mine is getting hot enough to burn me if I touch the transmission cover, brake pedals, clutch pedal ot the transmission casing itself.

Is that the correct fluid?

Normally 180 - 200 degrees F is considered the max temperature before the oil or seals are compromised. 130-140 degrees is where it is so hot you will get burns from touching something.

Do you have some thing in the hydraulic system adding heat? Like 3PH control stuck in the raised position, Directional valve lever being held partially shifted, etc..

Modern hydraulics are designed for somewhat higher operating temps. Even temps of 210 for short periods will not damage the seals. That is the big issue with transmissions, having the seals begin to deteriorate due to heat. If you think it is running too hot see if you can find someone with one of those laser reading infrared thermometers, greatest thing since tachometers for assurance and troubleshooting.

If you can find the right size seals in Viton it will handle more heat and still seal

Sometimes the most simple little phrase or innocuous couple of words takes you to places you just don't want to go when you Google them....
