I would like a sun shade for my utility tractor. But have a problem with the price of custom built. Anybody got any suggestions? Fabric will not work.

I made this with a 4x5 sheet of aluminum over 2x2 steel supports welded to the roll bar. Been a few yrs. Works great. FYI could not afford any more height and still enter the barn 8ft door.

We talking Sunshade or Roll-Over Protection or Combo? Very much NOT the same thing.

If it has ROP, then I would think about doing -- adding some cheap-fast-quick with either 2x4s and plywood (yeah, I know -- Red-Green and all) and/or Unistrut (my favorite thing), with muffler-pipe clamps, and maybe some plywood. See what you like, and then you can (very easy and cheap) change things around until you are happy with it.

Golf cart "roof" from a cart salvage yard.

I welded 1" barstock with a 1/2" hole into the ROP using the canopy frame as a guide.

The barstock in the canopy is threaded so there is no need for a nut.

I drilled a 1/4" hole through a 1/2" bolt to drill the holes so the alignment is perfect.

Also added a couple tabs to hold things in place while I add the bolts.

The other gussets bolt to factory fasteners. I added an LED light tied into the rear lights with a plug I added. The top is plastic riveted to the frame.

I too used a gold cart top from a used golf cart yard. $30 Braced it with 1" steel tubing on hand, and spent $10 for paint. Painted the top part white to reflect sun, and the bottom red to match the tractor. $40 all in.

I used a golf cart roof for mine. Custom fit and easy to work with.

I once used a plastic/fiberglass basketball backboard as a canopy

Hard to tell from picture, hopefully you are out of drip line. Very cool looking. I'm glad we don't get brutal sun/heat up here or I'd be trying to fabricate one as well.
