Here's a pic of my homemade grapple. Got tired of doing the slip chain (climbing down and up, down and up, ....) and was looking for a grapple for my Ford 1700. I found one, but no more than I will probably use it, I couldnt see paying $3K for one, so I built one. I used teeth and the shanks from a GBC box scraper, and a hydraulic clinder (1.5" bore x 3" stroke) off ebay. Total investment is around $250. I have it secured with chains so that it will move around as I'm pulling the feeled trees to the burn pile, and to make it easy on/off.

Nice little tool....now hang it from a boom pole and you have your own 3k grapple.

Your second pic didn't load properly for me.

Kevin

That is neat! Don't forget to add it to OleBlue's implement list!

Necessity is the mother of invention. I love it when you can make something that really works and save a bundle $$$$$ in the process. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
