Home made forge????

Hello, i was wondering if any one has ever made there own coal burning forge? i really need this because i hate wasting my oxy accetylene on heating steel cuz its expensive, if someone has pics of a home made forge please post them that would be great. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Truck hub or rim,a TEE,some pipe,a steel plate with slots cut in it and a blower.Built my first 30 odd years ago.Alas,I don't have one here for pics...Back then,you could pick up free coke just walking down the rail road tracks.

Have you thought about a gas forge at all? I make my living with a forge and gas is so much easier, now I know coal is a lot better heat and gives more control but it also takes a lot longer to get a good coke going and use it. Whereas gas you flip it on and are heating whatever it is you need to heat... you can get a good gas forge for a decent price...

Here is a picture of the one I have had for years. Haven't used it in many years. Does not have a hood. Needs to be used in a open area. I see you live in Ontario. If its near Detroit you may want to come over and look at it.

Hi, I actualy live in tiverton ontario about 3 hour drive from detroit, how much would you sell that forge for? like im only 16 getting into welding and blacksmith and that good stuff and i only have limited amount of money so post me back /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
