Made a new one for myself out of a 5/8" screw. Total cost: $4 for the 3/4" cpvc pipe, for the handle.

Very nice!
Thank you sir. So far just did quick welds with it, so can't attest how cool the handle will stay while running a bunch of continuous beads. But it's so comfortable to weld with though, I love it.

Great design and you could simply put that PVC into a larger piece if you need more insulation.

There's actually room in there to stuff in some sort of insulation if needed. Currently it's mostly an air gap in there between 5/8" diameter screw, and the cpvc 0.72" id. I got the screw pressing against one side of the inside of the cpvc pipe, held in place from the other side of the pipe with set screws I tapped into the cpvc. And then I drilled some corresponding dimples into the 5/8" screw to keep it all in place.
