You know I got to thinking about your post, and as sad as it is that some dealers will lie to customers.. I think it is even sadder when the dealers don't know they are lieing to you ( ignorant).

I went to an antique tractor show a few weeks ago.. stopped by to see a tractor store on the side of the road.. mostly yanmars.. but a few IH's, and then a 41 9n. The lady walked out as I was looking and said it was an 8n, and that it had been gone through and fixed up. I guess my facial expression changed as I said it really had to be either a 9/2n.. but she was adament it was an 8n.... I started at the front and started pointing out the differences... front / rear wheel hubs, radious rods, dash, 3spd tranny... finally pointing out the codes on the axle trumpets.

This ordeal took about five minutes... her response was..'Gee.. you sure know alot about these... I'l knock a few hundred off on this one..."

I had to chuckle to myself silently...

Didn't buy it.. but did get a dearborn 2 bottom plow while I was there...

glad i read this post. has anyone purchased any hay equipment from hobby horse. i'm looking at a JD 224T baler, JD #5 sickle mower and #15 international rake all reconditioned for $7995. after reading this post i will insist that the equipment get delievered before i pay. tedder
