High Temps & Factory Fluids

Gets kinda warm (some would say hot) this time of year and I've been wondering about the fluids in my tractor. Only have 32 hours on it so the factory lo-vis is still in the tractor.

Looking at the owner's manual, lo-vis Hy-Gard is recommended for temps up to around 100 F. We may be hitting that this weekend- and for sure in July & August! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Should I change to "regular" Hy-Gard for the 3 or 4 months where temps will be near/over 100 degrees? Or will the Low-Vis fluid be OK?

As shown in the document, both are fine and have different properties, i.e., one better for start ups in colder conditions vs. the other better in warm. In your case, I would use regular Hyguard.

I would use regular Hyguard, it's good from 0 to 122 degrees, if your tractor is in a garage you will never have a problem. The low viscosity Hyguard is good from -40 to 85 degrees.

Thanks for the replies. So it seems I should change out the factory fill for some 'regular' Hygard.

One thing that I find interesting is that the specs for Hy-Gard on the parts pages differs from the tractor's owners manual.
