High Horsepower CUT

I currently have a JD 110 tlb and while I like the tractor quite a bit, I find a need for more HP and a cab. I like this size tractor, the HST tranny, and a strong loader. I won't bother with a backhoe attachment (also looking at a 10-12k lb mini-ex). So far the best option looks to be a JD 4720 cab with the 400cx loader. I have the money for new, but prefer looking for a good deal on a used machine. Are there any other HST tractors over 60 HP? Kubota does have the L6060 now, or the L5740 which is just under 60 HP.

The main reason for 60 HP is the snowblower. I used my uncles Massey with about 60 HP pto for the same size blower and don't want to go much lower.

Why do you think that you must have an HST for a high horsepower snow blower. My LS P7010 with shuttle shift gear has 20F/20R transmission that I am sure I could find the right speed for any condition. One TBN member from Canada here has one for snow blowing and claims excellent results.

I don't think I need it for the snow blower, I just prefer the HST over shuttles or manuals. It's just my preference in a transmission. The other top chores with the tractor are loader work, dragging the pastures, and mowing the pastures. I am expanding the pastures now, but will have only 3 acres of pasture. The other big advantage is my wife will drive a HST, throw in a clutch or another lever and she gets overwhelmed.

Mahindra 6010 (60)
TYM T603 ... same as the above Mahindra, I believe it's available in HST.
Massey 1658 or 1660 (one is HST, the other is shuttle, can't remember which)

I think that's it, otherwise there are a bunch around 50 HP

That's a nice tractor. Looks like they are going after the JD 4520 niche. Have you seen the loader specs yet? I didn't see them on the website. A self leveling option would be nice.

The farmer that works out place was voicing his disgust over his NH compact tractor. Small tractor but plenty of HP. Problem is, the thing is built like a piece of crap, so he says. He asks, if I am ever going to sell my JD 6200, which actually is a much larger tractor, I should let him know. Less HP (only sixty something PTO) but built like a tank! Seems to me, that it's probably fairly easy and cheap to build a piece of crap, then upgrade the injector pump to get more HP for the brochure.

Reminds me of my 3/4 Ton (HD?) Duramax. Also of soup can thin tin and chinsy plastic construction! That and a host of stupid computers!

I would look for something commercial/industrial. I was in love with the 110 and almost traded in the 6200. I found out later that the 110, although a really sweet machine, was not the construction grade equipment it was marketed as. The basic machine was simply a 4000 series JD. There wee stories about the frame twisting over rough ground with a loaded bucket, resulting in the cooling fan rubbing on the shroud. NICE! But hey, it has those little protectors on the valve stems!

Which New Holland "compact" did he have? For the most part, "compact" tractors stop around 50 HP, everything bigger is labeled as "utility" or "agricultural" etc etc etc

I don't know the model, but I definitely would say it has more HP then our JD 6200 in my recollection. I would have considered it a compact, but I guess it's not

I think a 4520 or 4720 would be a good addition to your 110 but not a good replacement for it. I had the same concerns as you mention and kept my 110 and added a 4520 without fel this has worked out very well for me. If you want the power and convenience in an all in one machine look at a Kubota M59, 60hp hydro tlb.

My only concern with Kioti and the other "cheaper priced" brands is the lack of hydraulic options. I couldn't see from their website if you can get a loader mounted 3rd SCV, and 2 is the limit on the rear. I use all 3 on the rear of my 110 at times and the front for the grapple.

I have thought about a skid steer at times, but a tractor is more versatile.

Also from what I've read on the kioti site their 60hp hst only has 43hp at the pto. That's hardly anymore than my mx5100 kubota.

Frame size wise, what size Kubota or Deere frame does this compare to? Is it more like the L5740, M7040, or M8540?

I love the sounds of that QPS transmission but I didn't think they offered it in a smaller sized tractor.
