Hello, was hoping I could get some help from you people. I have an issue with a Hiab crane on a truck that we swapped over. There is a directional vave we are a bit stumped on. We cannot figure what it is doing. From the look of it dumps the oil back to the tank or runs the system. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

What is the actual question?

What kind of valve?

Does the work spools have reliefs?

Have you checked the load checks?

Is the hyd tank at proper level?

Do you have a hyd gage in the system?

Do you know the pump is good?

It is Yuken directional valve, has 2 lines outputs but no indicator as to what goes where. This unit came in disassembled. And we are a little bit lost. The rest of the system is in great shape and the only issue is this directional valve. We have the rest of the system checked out.

Sorta a vague description. Wonder if it's not some sort of crossover valve to protect against overpressure should something force the boom to rotate? Pictures would help.....Mike

I worked on 1 of them last year. I think the valve you are talking about directs the flow to the stab. legs then back to the boom to operate. Even the stab leg circuit was different from what I can remember. I told my customer to spend $1500 and update the controls to something more user friendly. That is on the books for this summer when he can shut the truck down. That is a old unit and parts are almost impossible to come by, I had to get parts from Florida. CJ

They definetly have a .....funky (for lack of a better/family fourm friendly description), way to operate their outriggers for sure.....Mike

You would be correct with that. We ran it without and the legs would not work. Thanks for all the information.
