Hi Sure could use some help on my 8N Tractor

You could by pass the key switch and fit a simple toggle switch to the ignition.

Mind that the starter motor still needs it's juice.

On the back of the ign switch you have diff positions no 1,2,3 and 4 .....1 is bat power ........2 is ign...........3 is thermostart............4 is for starting ........wile cranking 1 , 2 and 4 shoud have power on them . releasing the key 1 and 2 shoud have power on them.That is if a altenator has being fitted . If you still have a generator on your tractor , only 1,2 and 3 on the back of the switch .1 is power from bat ....2 fot thermostart and 3 for starting !

You need to have 12v to the positive (+) side of the coil. The negative side (-) goes to the points.
It'll work in either direction but problems arise if wired backwards.
But you must have one way or the other 12v to one side (+) of the ignition coil.

Don't go confusing the OP, the N's key ignition is a 2 wire job, off and on, none of this 1,2,3,4 position stuff.
