HF auto dark hood

/ HF auto dark hood #21
I have the cheapest HF helmet - $49. No complaints. Darkens instantly when welding and becomes bright instantly after stop welding. Tremendous improvement compared to flip down cover. I have never used a expensive AD helmet but this one seems to work good. Have had it for 2 years but only use it occasionally. I use it when welding in my shed and have the sensitivity maxed. I put it in the sunlight a couple of times a year to charge the battery. Always seems to work even after setting a couple of months.

I don't think this was stressed in posts above, if so sorry for duplication.

When I got my auto darkening helmet (first one, now have a Jackson NexGen) I wondered about eye safety. I checked into it, and found that these helmets provide 100% infrared and UV protection, even if they don't go dark.

The net effect of a flash is about the same as what you get from a flash camera.

I don't have any fear when I use my "cheap" hood, but I like the color rendition of the Jackson better, so that is the one I put on all the time...not for safety, eye protection or anything, just like the gold view better than the green...

Again, sorry if this is a repeat of what someone posted previously...
