OH Yes ! ... beautiful job,...on all counts. You're right, finding a spot for a tool box on a compact takes a good deal of study,...and then just when you find a spot, you realize its right in the way of something.
You did a nice job and it looks like standard equipment. Yes even the padded top arm rest,...great idea!
But .."IF"... the NC sun causes a problem that becomes a darn niusance,.. you might try "re-covering" the padded area with a WHITE leatherette or some such covering. I really hate to tell you that after you did such a fine upholstering job on that project,....BUT,... "white" will reject the heat much better than black.
In fact that was the primary purpose of painting our police cruiser rooves white, (back before the days of a/c) It made a tremendous difference,...still does!
Just a suggestion,...even though I like how the black matches your seat and gives a professional, original equipment look. Congrats,..nice job!
