I believe you may get tired of draining the hose's so they don't freeze ... unless it never freezes at you place.

Oh it freezes here...

Good news is I have a big hill that will drain most of it gravity. As itis now I am both draining hoses and carrying 5-gallon buckets over 300 feet (mostly level). I strung together every hose I had and managed to get to the top of the hill (barely). My little girls cannot carry a 5 gal bucket full (not yet at least, they will learn). Between them they can carry one. We need at least 8 to fill their water.

I need something the girls can manage when I'm not here... somehow.

I have not found one of those plastic buckets, and I would still need to rig a hose to it also.

Time... I can fix anything with time, which I seem to always run out of...

David,

Another idea, get a plastic 55 gallon barrel. Lay the barrel on its side in your FEL bucket. Using the small bung, screw in a water spigot. Attach a short hose (length as needed). Make sure the spigot is at the bottom. Fill the barrel using the top bung hole. When filled, screw the cap back on.

You might have to / want to strap the barrel in place. You should be able to get about 40-45 gallons in the barrel by filling it on its side.

Fill barrel, drive it up the hill. Raise FEL 4' high, put hose into stock tank, turn on spigot.

Do you let your daughter drive your tractor? This would be a cheap and easy way to haul water.

Around here those barrels are about $15. The spigot my guess about the same.

Just another thought ... how about a platform for the plastic tank to set on? You fill it and bring it to the platform with the FEL ... the water trough just below the tank valve ... then the girls simply turn open the valve and fill the trough.
