- 2008, L2800, HST, 473 FEL / Ford 8N, (well maybe only a 7.5N!)
I plan to buy the L2800 tomorrow - price negotiated so just a matter of fine details inspection.
One thing the owner mentioned today is that someone looked at it this week and couldn't disengage the the PTO after testing out the brush hog.
The owner later sprayed some WD40 on the linkage and said that immediately took care of it. Does this sound right?
When i looked at it first I did engage the PTO, no problem it slid right in, then disengaged it afterward no problem. So i'm a bit baffled why someone would have a diffferent experience.
On the L2800 is the PTO protected by an internal overunning clutch like the L3200? This would remove some of my worry.
Can anyone tell me how to test out the PTO engagement really well just to make sure there is not something not perfect with it. What to look for wrt to how it should feel engaging the lever, or how to really test it in all conditions the tractor will see to be sure it works correctly.
I plan to make final inspection tomorrow morning and bring it home on a trailer. Also is there a good method of securing it to the flatbed trailer - where to hook on to.
Thanks,
Paul
