I plan to buy the L2800 tomorrow - price negotiated so just a matter of fine details inspection.

One thing the owner mentioned today is that someone looked at it this week and couldn't disengage the the PTO after testing out the brush hog.

The owner later sprayed some WD40 on the linkage and said that immediately took care of it. Does this sound right?

When i looked at it first I did engage the PTO, no problem it slid right in, then disengaged it afterward no problem. So i'm a bit baffled why someone would have a diffferent experience.

On the L2800 is the PTO protected by an internal overunning clutch like the L3200? This would remove some of my worry.

Can anyone tell me how to test out the PTO engagement really well just to make sure there is not something not perfect with it. What to look for wrt to how it should feel engaging the lever, or how to really test it in all conditions the tractor will see to be sure it works correctly.

I plan to make final inspection tomorrow morning and bring it home on a trailer. Also is there a good method of securing it to the flatbed trailer - where to hook on to.

Thanks,

Paul

I wouldn't worry about the PTO leaver, Wd-40 is a good fix! :)

I believe the PTO clutch is the same as the L3200, but not 100% sure.

Ok - got it home on the tailer. Whew - now just for a little grease clean up - i think he went overboard with the zerk gun.

Thanks for all the help in deciding - now i'm officially in he Orange club.

It looks great! Congrats!

Make sure you grease the front axle pivot! There's a zerk front and back.

Remember the one in the front has a little square headed plug beside the Zerk to unscrew and take out, then pump grease until it starts to come out of this inspection plug hole, then reinstall the plug.. The one in the back just pump about 3 good pumps and let it go, it goes inside the axle somewhere.
