Once you start middle-clicking, you'll never go back! Also, as was suggested, firefox is safer (no activex contols) and you can install all sorts of add-ons.

Edie,

You may want to look at how the Taskbar is set to be used IE Cascade, Side by Side, Stacked. This could be effecting the way it is displaying. Right click the task bar and have a look

I hear ya. The place I work for has a time keeping website that ONLY works with IE. I found an addon for Firefox that lets you open pages in a Firefox tab in an IE "container". Essentially running IE inside of Firefox.

Hint, middle-click (with the roller) on a link, that will open it in a new tab in the background.

Nice tip rcrcomputing, I had set IE to open links in a new tab but the wheel click lets me keep reading while the link opens. Thanks;)

I know your pain Soundguy, I used to have to work with WebCM (govt. construction reporting program) and after I loaded IE7 everything went sideways fast. Its was a pain to undo everything back to IE6. I'm so glad WebCM is dead...more wasted tax dollars.

Well, I learned something new myself. I've been right clicking, then clicking on "Open in new tab"; didn't know about the wheel click, except to scroll up or down.

Eddie,

From the sound of it I use a browser much like you do. I have 9 Firefox instances open at the moment. I do this all the time. I do use tabs but I like to have related websites in the same browser.

My laptop has 2gb of RAM which helps. On the laptop I have Firefox and IE. Sometimes you just have to use IE. I have an IE instance running as well. But Firefox is where the work gets done. My home system has IE, Firefox and Opera. :D You don't have to have just one browser. :D I put on Opera to play around with. Firefox is what I use 95% of the time at work or home.

Later,
Dan

Let me make another suggestion. You probably could use dual monitors.

Once you get a second monitor you, will never go back and Windows XP makes using dual monitors very simple. I have two Apple LED 24" monitors.
