How many hours is on the BX1500 Larry? It could have been a faulty bearing with such a short life bearing failures happen most at the beginning and end of the life. In other words most failures occur in the break in period from material/manufacture defect or when they are worn out from use or neglect.

Almost 1400hrs. Im not sure of the configuration of the bearing ... cradle ya know? It sounds like a bearing along with a support assembly. And you know what happens when the cradle breaks:eek: ...

Depending on the terminology but I would say the cradle bearings are what hold the swash plate in position. If one of these is worn or broken it could easily cause the symtoms you where experienceing. As to why it broke??

Possible causes:

Got some contaminate in it and just plain wore out.

Bearing was of marginal quality and finally failed.

Excessive shock loading by repeated wheel spin then grabbing on good footing.

Extremely rapid forward reverse direction changes or or fast stops.

Yes the releif valves are in the system to reduce these loads but everything has a response time.

I don't remember the design of these HST's. Are these bearings lubricated with pressureized oil. If yes could cold start-up have possibly caused the bearing to score and then fail over time?

just some thoughts on possible failure analysis.

Thanks for the update Larry. I have been wondering about this for a while, and I know you have been fighting the white stuff. I took the liberty of posting a jpg from my BX2200 manual; yours should be very similar since they are both BX??00 series. It is item 90, marked with a red arrow. It takes reaction forces from the pump pistons.

This part should be wet with case fluid, but it depends a bit on the case drain layout, etc. I would not expect to see that part fail early, since there are moving parts that are living a much tougher life nearby.

An update. ... I didnot realize I had not put this completely current on my last post. -- I had the transmission replaced because cost would have been almost as much to remove, fix and reassemble as it was to just change out. And it would have been a worn trans. I kept the old trans and look forward to checking it out when I have the time.

Spyderlk,
I'm having similar issues. Can you PM or post here what your cost was and the options. Rebuilt VS new, could you pull and replace it yourself? thanks
