Backhoe HELP!! Kioti Backhoe 2375 broken

/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Dad just called me this evening and told me that the backhoe had broken near the pivot point of the lower arm opposite of the bucket. he said it is the 1/4 in. thick metal. every thing else is 3/8 in or more. IT SUCKS. I've had it for 2 months and it had to do this. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif guess it will be my first warrenty issue.
has anybody heard of this happening? I will get a hold of my dealer in the morning. Mark

bummer...... /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif we have never seen this happen before, but we don't have many of the KB2375 hoes out there.... mostly rhino stuff. Hopefully they get you patched back up and back to work. I know you sure stay busy with that BH ! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What was he using it for when it broke?

Can't tell from the photos. Is the spacer (that the pin goes through) between the 2 cracked pieces welded to the plates that broke out.
If its not it sure looks to me like it should be to make it stronger/more support.

yes vince the weld and the plate Broke at the spacer. only 1/4 stuff. on the backside it needs to be heavier and thicker. only about 1/2 in if that on the back of the spacer. needs of be more. I would weld some extra stuff on it but still under warrenty. will have to see after warrenty.

almost forgot Jon dad was moving loose dirt that was compacted a bit so he could get better access to move it from the pile. basicly not a whole lot. mark

I haven't heard of this particular break happening before. I do know that on some of the earlier 2375s there was a problem with breakage on the stabilizers down near the ground pads, but after Bigtractor weld-repaired one and sent Kioti pictures, I see that they adopted his structurally-strengthening modification on the newer hoses. I have to suspect that there was a flaw in the metal at that point as I have done far more stressful operations with mine than your Dad was doing when this happened to your hoe. I'm happy for you that it's under warranty, and I'm sure they'll get it fixed up for you. They should give you another hoe in my opinion though, as I think there's probably too much flaw there simply to repair it.

thanks for the reply john. I feel like they should give me a new hoe too if not the arm.
I can arlready think of a better way to reinforce it but don't want to hurt the warrenty.
taking 1/2 plate and cutting it to fit around the shaft and then welding the plate to the 1/4 plate and the shaft would go a long way to making it a lot stronger.

I hope it doesn't take to long to get it fixed as I needed it yesterday. mark

I know how you feel. Mine broke also. but Kioti was great in that they say the pics and covered it under warrently. no problems. they sent a new unit out right away to hawaii... attached is a few pics also.

Sorry to say it but all these pictures make me glad I went with a Rhino backhoe
I really like Kioti tractors, but so far they are not impressing me with their backhoes !!

Sorry to see that happen and breakdowns usually occur when you need the unit most. I agree that the steel should probably be 3/8" at that point because a good bit of stress is there. I haven't had any problems with my KB2375. I've worked it hard. I've been in hard dirt and hooked a few roots. With the control lever at full travel, the bucket or arm will just stop moving. I wonder if the swing didn't contribute to this. The swing is very fast and it took a little to get used to by only gently feathering the lever. With a full bucket and the arms extended, the swing can be so fast that really puts a sideways twist on things. Also, as someone suggested, maybe a flaw in the steel. I'm not a metalurgist, but the crackes are at welds. Maybe the weld was cooled to fast which will make the steel harder and more brittle. Either way, I hope Kioti will take notice to this happening and reinforce these areas or use thicker steel. They could have also left a little more steel around the circumference of the hole.
I hope Kioti takes care of the problem and you're up and running soon.

The break was on the first ram near the operator. The damage should not have been so extreme because you are looking right at it. You would think you would notice it sooner. I was not on the machine at the time, another operator was. He claims all he was doing was scraping 3 inchs off a packed pad. We needed to bring the garage pad down 3 inchs before a concrete pour. However, it could be faulty metal since I have a picture of the machine the day before, after some heavy digging, and I don't see any damage to the area in question. This was after 40 hrs. on the whole machine. We had to call the pour off and had to dig by hand. I would say it took 10 days to 2 weeks for the new backhoe was on and machine dropped off at the property. Once we sent the pictures in to Kioti, they emailed my dealer back and said change it out. Again, I am glade I bought local and did not try to save a few dollars and bring it in from the mainland. Having a local dealer for me has been great.

I have had to replace EVERY o-ring on the valve because of leaks with 40 hours. That shouldn't be. The damage shown in this failure is quite bizzare

got a call from my dealer this morning. he said kioti was shipping the part out today. should have it in a few days.
I have the only vehicle that will pull the trailer and I'm not home, so I think that Dad is going to pull the arm off and then my wife will go get the new arm.
ALSO kioti is sending a bumber kit to go on somewhere....???? suppose to help prevent this in the future...???

Then we can finish getting the dirt leveled from digging the basement.

The bumper kit keep from over extended
it is a stoper that you weld on
that is problem with backhoe as it over extend caused to brake at pin. we have 2 to do it
