Help, I\'m losing my teeth

I have about 15 hours on my new BB and I've lost 4 of my scarifiers teeth! Whats the deal and am I doing something wrong?

What brand BB? What version (standard duty, heavy duty)

What are you hitting/snagging with them?

Are they breaking off or are the locking pins coming loose and you are actually losing them because they slip out?

It's a Kioti (Midwset) BB-30 (heavy) 72". The teeth a peened on, not pinned on even though they have the holes for pins. Definitely going with pin replacements!

Rocky and dry terrain. If I'm losing them, I ain't finding them......

3 things: #1, the rocks you are hitting are TOO BIG. Just hit the smaller ones and you won't have this problem. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

#2, I've not seen the "30 series" Midwest blades, could you post pictures here so we can see what you are talking about?

Greg, Several years ago, I bought a Midwest BB from Corriher in NC and had the same problem. The nice folks at Corriher responded that I needed 'hardened' teeth for the rocky New England soil. They sent me a new set at no cost to me. But once I saw how they were attached, I took the new teeth and the scarifiers to my local welder. He removed the old teeth and welded on the new ones. I have not lost a tooth since.

I will grant that the attachment method is designed that way on purpose. The teeth are supposed to pop off rather than break a scarifier. But since the glaciers were not kind to us nor'easters, I am perfectly satisfied with my welded teeth. Just make sure that the rock is less than 50% of the size of your BB. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
