Help 3010 or 4310 !!!!

We have just purchased 16 acres (8 leased out for hay). It is very open and flat pasture that weeds have taken over. We have 3 things we want to do:
1. get it back in shape and roto-till (at least a 58" tiller) if necessary.
2. mow is regularly
3. rip up old fences and out-buildings and move stuff around and put in some new fence.

We have been reading the posts here for weeks and talking to people and dealers and we just get more and more confused about what will work.

Will a L3010 (we can get a great deal on a slightly used one) be adequate or should we consider the L4310??

Any comments would be appreciated.

The 3010 is a lot of tractor especially for 8 acres. It should handily do all you require and more. There would be no point in paying the many extra $s for a 4310. Better to fully fund all your tax deferred accounts.

for what u want to do and the type of land u are dealing with i do beleive the 3010 will be more than enough tractor for u, but u know best.

If you can afford the 4310 go for it. Pretty much can guarantee you that you won't regret having a bigger tractor but you will regret having a smaller tractor. Five years from now you won't remember the difference in price but you will be reminded everytime you try and use the smaller tractor. It's alot cheaper now to go up in tractor rather than later.

What about a 3410 or 3710? The only reason you might want bigger than a 3010 would be to go to a 6-foot brush hog. The 3010 should probably stick with a 5 footer, but the 4310 can probably run the 6-footer.

Thanks for all the input! We bought a 3010 and will go with a 5' mower (the dealer will let us try a 6'). I think it will work fine on our place.

Good choice! I have an L3010 with a 6' finish mower here in Northern Vermont, and have no trouble mowing our steep hillside meadow.

I second that sentiment Boondox. I have a L3010HST pulling a 7' Woods finish mower with no problem.
