Hello; everyone, my name is William and I am a retired Master Sergeant/E-8 from the US Army of 24 years. My wife and I live on less than 2 acers the reason I came here is I want to find out how I could make, or maybe even buy used of course a small compact tractor with scoop for dirt hawling and such. I heard something about a 3-point hitch does anyone know which small tractors have those hitches and how it would work?

Thanks! Happy To Be Here. :)

Welcome Williams and thank you for your service to our country. TBN has a wealth of info just for the asking and searching. The "three point hitch" is a term used in tractors as a point of attachment in three places at the rear. Your inquiry as to getting a tractor with a scoop or known as a "front end loader" is popular in both old and new. Check your local area first in places such as Craigslist.org where you can inspect the tractor in person. Visit a local tractor sales such as Ford, John Deer or Massey Ferguson just to name a few. Welcome to the TractorByNet forums from Southern Missouri.:)

As mentioned, you can use a front end loader to move dirt, but before we could afford a tractor with one, we used a 3PH mounted dirt scoop that you could use; not as effective as a FEL, but a lot cheaper.

Most compact tractors have 3PH and you can find reasonably priced older tractor that will fit your needs.

Thanks for your service and good luck.

Just one of the threads on scoops:http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachments/179646-dirt-scoop.html
