Tractor
IH 2400 series B utility
I'm totally new to owning a tractor of my own. Drive them as a kid but different ball game. My son and I bought a 2400 series B IH with a 2050 loader. We are trying to figure things out. We've learned to change the fuel filters, bleed the system and basic operation. But we could use help with more details about the tractor. For instance where to check the transmission oil. Any one know where to get a manual? Only information is ????1978 from tractor data 3 cyl diesel. We are wanting to clear land brush hog and general land maint. For horses goats and a few cows eventually after we get more grass than brush growing. Any input direction is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Pattie

Welcome from Wisconsin,I have a INT 2500A which i think is pretty much the same Machine but mine uses gas.the whole system,Transmission,Brakes,Hydraulics can be checked with the Dip stick which is located by your left foot when you are in the seat.have to bring it up to operating temp then check your dip stick. If you are operating on slopes fill about 1 inch over full.

Do any of you know where to get a Manuel? If you overfill the hydraulic how do you drain some? What problems can it cause? Mine is making a strange noise when in gear but it doesn't seem to be causing anything yet but I don't know if that's normal or because I overfilled it.

I know you cant find much info on Industrial but if you cross over to the Farm Version of your model which I think yours is the INT454 you can follow that its the same Tractor only built heavier. The 2500A series is mine and the farm version is the 574 and the parts are the same.

I think you will find it calls for Trans-Hydraulic Fluid for Case/International Harvester.being overfull and wrong fluid might be cause of noise.I would drain it and start over.

Okay I can do that. Where do I drain it from? Underneath there are 3 big screws I know the front end is oil. Is the back 2 where I drain it from?

hydraulic oil runs transmission and for Brakes and your loader.I have never drained mine so I am not sure.I would say you are right.I have my tractor about 5 years and it was changed when i bought it.

I've been searching several sites and the one about 454 says they have 2 transmissions one for high low gears and 1-4. So I will locate the transmission oil and then drain it. Thank you I'll let you know what happens
