ymg1800d
I'm a newbie and this is my first post.
I've owned a ymg1800d Yanmar for a couple of years. Recently I've noticed that the clutch has been making noise when engaged. I'm pretty sure that the clutch is cooked or the throw out bearing or fork is done, there is 1573 hours on the clock and no adjustment left. I don't have a manual for it,so was wondering if the easiest way to yank the clutch is to pull the motor ,or the trans. Has any one done a clutch that could help out.
Thanks Richard

Hello Richard, WELCOME to TBN!

I moved your thread to the Yanmar Forum so you could more likely get some help.

Good luck!

I haven't done one, so FWIW - this should at least get somebody with experience to jump in and tell what I got wrong. :D

What I've read here is you split the tractor at the bell housing and roll the rear portion back a coupe of feet. This needs a rolling floor jack under the front of the transmission tunnel.

You block up the front to support it front-to-back, and also you put shims under the sides of the engine, because otherwise it will flop to the side until it hits the top of front axle. Detaching hydraulic lines etc to make the split should be obvious. I don't know about steering.

I think you really should have a shop manual for this model, or a similar one, to plan the project.

Ok, what did I miss? :)

Added: Thanks Winston! I see you referenced the right answer while was drafting this.

A hardy thanks to all for all the info, I pulled off the rad to get a small leak fixed, and ended up tearing off enough body panels untill I figured out what needed to be done. I'm an aircraft mech. so i just needed to go deep enough to figure it out. I do appreciate all the info, I'll let all know how things turned out.
Take care
Richard
