Ok with all this cold weather I have to wonder why they don't make a heated steering wheel?

Well I don't know if your being funny or not, but maybe not funny.
When I was buying a snow blower there was an option for heated hand grips, I thought no way, that's stupid and opted out.
Well on several occasions I've regretted not getting them, and had to resort to the old Polish hand/glove warmer trick, using the exhaust to get the feeling back in the fingers and warm up the gloves.

I use the word Polish not to disparage any origin of people but because the guy that showed me the trick, who also works for me is from Poland, (very resourceful people). When I first saw that I thought that was stupid also, but it didn't take long before I was doing it myself

No I am not being funny, I'm serious. I am also Polish and have used that glove warming trick many times.;) The problem with my new 2320 is the exhaust is down under the tractor where as my older JD 650 had the high rise exhaust and it made it really easy to warm your gloves, I could even warm my gloves while tooling down the road.

I know there are premium cars with heated steering wheels....but I have never heard of one on a tractor. Would be a nice option for sure....if not too costly.

And a heated seat option... too! (The neighbor's have NEVER gotten used to seeing me hoist myself up on the hood to warm my @ss on the exhaust!)

Sorry, I'm not Polish - I've just got so many different lines in my heritage and enough year's on me that -- I'm always offensive... ;)

That said -- I'd buy a heated steering wheel AND a heated seat if they were available.

I too am Polish, and I like the idea of hand and butt heaters:D. After purchasing my fourwheeler and riding it in the snow, I decided to get heated grips for it. I got heated grips for my Goldwing and installed them too. Then when I wanted a new motorcycle I decided.. heated grips MUST be standard. Now, if I could only think of a way to make a clean install on the BX for the steering wheel. However, heating elements on the seats are not that hard to install.. maybe I'll make that a project before next winter:D. I've put them in customers cars.

I mostly solved my cold hands problem with the steering wheel being so cold.
I simply bought a steering wheel knob at the parts store. Now I only have one
hand on the knob at a time. No need to grip steering wheel. However, I do
have power steering. Try the nob job. You could be surprised at the difference.
Hope this helps somebody

I'll second it.
I have a BMW motorcycle with heated grips and it is totally WEIRD how effective they are.
I would NOT have expected to be able to ride with such thin gloves covering the backs of my hands in such cold weather JUST BECAUSE my palms and inside of my hands are warmed.
I've updated my other winter gear now that I can ride faster with warm hands.

Yeah, I think "there is a market for this" and you could probably use after market bike heated grips for a tractor wheel.
Just those two hand positions you use the most - and if they're heated you WILL hold the wheel there a lot more (-:

I'm Polish AND i have a heated wheel and heated seat ! :D

The last time i did the glove/exhaust trick, my hands passed out from the carbon monoxide. Nearly had to rush them to the hospital.;)

Heated seat... and just how did you manage that exactly??? I'd like to see details and maybe a pic - REALLY! :D

Thanks.

Mitts instead of gloves may be the quickest solution. Thick wool or fleece inner mitts with a good leather outer MIT.

Stihl even makes an Arctic version of their 440 chainsaw with heated grips. :)

A heated steering wheel would be a good idea on an open tractor.

Look at the picture in his avatar, he has a cab.

I'm pretty sure that must be what he's referring to :)

Duh....

I can never find anything in the house, either. Especially when it's right in front of me! Ask my wife..

(I DO KNOW where things are in the shop, though).

Have to learn something from this lesson. BUY a cab tractor!! :D

Has your wife been talking to my wife?:D

The place where we got the remote start for the wife's Traverse had heated seats. I was not interested in that so I did not look. Might have to go back!

Good one, we have snowmobiles. I think instead of plowing the driveway I will just ride up and down it and pack the snow. My hands never get cold when I'm on the snowmobile. Actually that would not work. Finally convinced the wife plowing snow IS work, she would never buy into me using the snowmobile.:D

Canadian Tire was selling heated floor-mats last spring....$9.99. It's just a black carpet floor-mat with a 12v heating element inside and plugs into a cigarette lighter...i bought a few of them. I removed the element out of one, and since i had to re-cover my seat on my quad....well it worked out well, just put a rocker switch on the handlebars for when it gets too warm. I'd like to do the same with my tractor seat but i don't think i could re-cover it to make it look good.
