One other thing about the bluetooth, at least mine is that when the phone rings or I get a text, I hear the ring or text alert through my aids. I also have a button to answer a call or to end it hands off the phone.

Also, now that I think about it, the adaptors like for the TV work with the same bluetooth adaptor that I wear.

So you're telling me there are hearing aids with Bluetooth that allow you to talk hands free on a call? Can you still hear outside noises while in a call?

But wait there's more,

Last week while waiting at a car dealership with my hearing aids in and my iPhone in my pocket the VFD phone pager app went off, I heard it through my hearing aids and listen to the FD streaming working the automobile accident while texting my wife about the wreck. No one around me was disturbed, only I could hear what was going on down the road.

In church we have a loud pipe organ and a soft speaking pastor, I adjust with the remote for each. :thumbsup:

The absolute best use of my hearing aids in in the car. I can hear my wife speak because the road noise is muted but her voice is not.

The Hearing Aid's bluetooth TV Link Amazon.com: Phonak TVLink II Base Station: Beauty is another option. I got it, but since then I have found a better solution to the poor sound of the flat screen TV. This wireless speaker is perfect, and my wife uses it also. She can take it to the kitchen or to the patio grill without missing anything.

So spend you money on this Wireless TV Speaker @ Sharper Image instead of the Hearing aid's TV LINK.

I listen to the TV with this speaker instead of the hearing aids.

Has anyone any experience with both the speaker in the ear and the tube into the ear aids. I've had the tubes in the ear type for about 6 years now and have had a few problems and thinking of replacing them with the Speaker in the Ear type.
I've had problems with the domes, the tubes folding and flattening , and feedback. Lots of feedback. I am leaning towards the Speaker-in-the-ear type but have a friend who has just gone back from speaker in the ear to the tube type.

I too wondered if the RIC "Receiver In Canal" would be comfortable, I've had the tubes for eight or nine years and experience the same aggravations you have. I tried a set of demo RIC and it was night and day difference, they were comfortable and the technology is so much more advanced, it is like going from a 56 Ford AM radio to surround sound. The difference convinced me to cough up the money for a new set, will be headed to Costco Wednesday for testing and if they are as good as the demo set, I'll get theirs. I can't see a down side to the RIC other than price.

After 3 years of use I had to send my Phonak Bolero Q90 - M13 set back for repairs and I got them back last week. It is awesome to have them back because they are game changers. They are the Behind The Ear style with ear molds and really worked out well over the years.

Some times a new battery would start beeping 15 minutes after I installed it and then go dead. Other times it would last for two weeks and that kind of stuff. The right on did it first (higher power setting not that that was a factor) and I actually used just one for a while but it was for my best ear so finally I had to do something.

I think they just swap out the aids with ones already reconditioned or at least the internal unit. I am the guardian of a 72 year old guy who does not have speech due to growing up with ruptured ear drums (now restored) so he has massive power aids and he now responds when his name is called over the PA system in the nursing home. A new set will last about three years then one will fail and it goes back for repair. So about once every year or two another one goes back. It is $300 a pop which is not too bad vs. being totally deaf. I think a new set is in the $2500 range but it has been a few years.

The other places I've had testing done only used the beeps in each ear, Costco did the beeps, but also recorded voice in each ear and me repeating the sentences along with turning up the different sounds till it became uncomfortable. I have an appointment to pick them up this Saturday, like a kid waiting for Christmas.

Ha, my wife was with me when they did the repeating words, she giggled a lot and was almost sent out.
Make sure they put in the program for hearing while driving, that is the one that is most valuable to me.

I have Trax from Costco, since February. Like you I couldn't wait to get MY pair. Thinking its time for a check up as it seems like they are not as effective as they were in February. Regardless, the worst part about them is I have to take them off and they can't stay on me all the time.

Couple years ago I needed to ask a fellow to repeat something and he rudely told me to get hearing aids.
Kinda bruised my ego.
Yesterday his wife confirmed that his hearing was going downhill and he won't admit to it so I related his earlier comments to me.
Gotta say I am glad that I won't be present when she confronts him.

LOL, my wife always claims I slur and that the dishwasher is too noisy, my fault not her hearing, LOL.

txdon, that is one of the programs that I think I'd like, also the one for crowded restaurants, noisy places are where I notice I have the hardest time sorting out the words. I ordered the Kirkland Signature 6.0 and I'm interested in the phone through the hearing aids. The tech didn't seem to know what that would entail so will have to pin that down on Sat. I think there is a difference in using an I Phone and an Android, I have the Galaxy S5 so hoping I can get that working. I'll ask about the filters also. Thanks

The filters (white end) come in an eight pac with applicator (black stick). Here is a pic. You remove the old filter with the empty male side and then snap in the new small white filter.


I have the vehicle and the crowed restaurant program. The first time I use the crowed restaurant program was at a birthday party in a garage with 50 people. I could understand the lady across the table talking to me even with all the crowd noise, it was nice. I was told the difference between the programs is in the vehicle program it filters and and allows multidirectional hearing input - if someone on the seat beside you or back seat is talking you do not have to turn your head. The restaurant program directional input is set directly in front of you.

Fortunately I don't need hearing aids, yet. (according to me, my wife's opinion might differ) But when I see the prices of them, they're stupidly expensive. Why is it that every other electronic device we use has gotten smaller, with more features and the prices continues to drop, EXCEPT, hearing aids? I think the price of hearing aids continues to increase. I know I can buy a set of noise cancelling/amplifying earplugs for a fraction of the price of a hearing aid. Is the technology between the two that different? I bet it isn't. Not only that, I would think they sell a bajillion more hearing aids, then they do earplugs, so the economy of scale should have also helped drop their prices. What gives? Because it's a medical device, they can charge whatever they want?

BUT I agree they are terribly expensive. Costco is 30-40% the cost of aids...near same aids...as other store front hearing stores. And why I bought from them.
