Hay Maxx?

So what is the general opinion of the Hay Maxx rakes? I was surfing the net and ran across the HAY MAXX 3 point 4 Wheel rake- Rakes 8.5'. web page At $495 this seems cheap. I have been hunting for a side delivery rake that is field ready for $500 - $800 and I've just missed several. Most I have looked at have been right at $1200 used, but in good shape.

So when I saw the hay maxx at $495 my interest was peaked.

Anyone use these? Opinions?

Compared to a side delivery rake, what are some pros/cons of this rake?

You'll get conflicting reports, but from MY experience, I'm not much on wheel rakes. The knock I have against them is they tend to pick up too much trash. (dirt, rocks, ect) I'm much more comfortable with roll-a-bar style rakes. (I use NH with a tandem hitch)

I've used a couple different brands of wheel rakes. One "cheap" and one "expensive" brand. Both were set up by dealers who claimed they were working as good as they were capable of, and I still wasn't real impressed.

The biggest "advantage" I see is that MOST wheel rakes are fast (due in part to their size, in most cases) Another advantage is cost. Most wheel rakes tend to be less expensive. (than a new or relatively new side delivery rake)

I guess if I had perfectly flat ground, with not the first sign of a rock, I'd be more impresssed, but for my operation, give me a roll-a-bar rake any day.

I actually just bought a NH 55 rake at an auction this past weekend for a fair price (read cheap).

So my hay rake problems are solved, as long as this rake will work like i think it will.
