I do have a mile marker 10,500 hyd winch that I use on my tractor for skidding logs. Having a winch on an ATV/RTV is for ocassional use so I would think that an electric one would last a long time. When I use my hyd one it goes in and out like a yo yo going up and down.

my warn is about 4 years old and it's still tugging along but i keep it cleaned and lubed up. i need to upgrade to a 4k warn though with everything i keep adding to the hpx the 2500 warn is maxing out but it still pulls me out (when i do get stuck)

But can the rtv motor run under water?

Hydraulic winches are perfect in every way but this. My electric Ramsey is waterproof and should work underwater...

my warn 2500 works underwater. all 12 volt motors should work under water .well i should say dc current motors should work underwater it's the elctronic boards that can't get wet and as far as i know their ain't no circut boards in a winch.

Their winchs with a steel cable leave a lot to be desired. Unless they have change the way they attach the cable to the drum. I have redsigned the one I got from them 2 times and now I have a fairly good winch.
