Hi,

Anyone have a Hawkline blade or other implement. They also make trailers. The company is in Mt. Orab, OH (close to Cincinnati).

I ran across a dealer with them today. I am looking for a 60" 6-way blade for my GC2300.

They look very well built. It weighs 281 lbs. The moldboard is 1/4" x 14". It has a bolt-on heat-treated cutting edge which is 1/2" x 6" and reversable. Offset is 12" from center. 5 forward and 5 reverse positions. Retractable jack stand. And best of all - RED, like the GC2300.

Price is $268. It may be cheaper from another larger dealer in my area that I have yet to contact.

They have a website - www.gohawkline.com

Any thoughts or experiences with this product or brand?

Thanks,

My neighbor has one that I've used a few times. For the money it's a heavy and well built implement. The only drawback that I've seen is that the blade offset and tilt is done with large bolts that tend to slip.

See this picture:

Hawkline Blade

That is a Hawkline blade and you can see the how the blade assembly bolts to the frame. The "track" on the blade assembly also tends to fill with debris and can make adjusting the offset difficult.

The only problem we have found with the blades, and it may be rectified now, is the pins were to high in the air. The implement couldn't be raised enough to get the tractor on a trailer without dragging or get over snow banks. Hopefully they have fixed this problem.

We had a similiar problem. I just moved the blade all the way to the top of the slots in the frame. Thats how the blade is configured in the picture I posted. Notice the bottom of the frame is almost level with the bottom of the blade assembly.

Thanks for the info.

I put a deposit on this blade today. I'll get it in a week or so.
Paying $268 as it is a 2004 blade leftover. Same blade this year is $330 with the steel surcharge.

I will use the tilt very little, so the bolt adjustment is ok with me..

thanks again,

Yes, that would work on a tractor like yours. Not sure about on a GC2300. That tractor sits pretty low to the ground. I hope it works out fine.

I broke my neighbors Hawkline blade this week-end. Had the blade set offset to cover the left rear wheel and with a 45* angle. Got caught on rock and it torqued the blade carrier part right off!! Broke the metal!!

And no I'm not a pilot, other than "piloting" a computer. I've been using this nick for a LOONNG time, since the days when I was big into flight sim games. Thus Micro from Microcomputer, and Pilot from piloting virtual aircraft.
