Have I been using my weed trimmer wrong?

My new favorite is Echo Black Diamond Line available in .095 and 105.

Just some more information. I have a Husqvarna weed trimmer. I just checked the model and when I purchased it, 2009 and it's a 124C a light weight machine. Probably 10 years ago I was at the fair grounds helping out, doing clean up and wickey wacking some heavy brush. Well the trimmer quit/ locked up. I worked the crank shaft back and forth until it broke loose. Some time later, I let my neighbor use it and it locked up for him also. He was very sorry and has never asked to use it again. I told my neighbor what the problem was and that I would probably be able to fix it. Again I worked the crankshaft back and forth until it freed up. What the problem is that a small piece of aluminum from the piston skirt galls up and welds it's self to the cylinder wall. As long as it is a small piece and it decides to break loose I can make the trimmer come alive again. This galling is probably caused from over working the trimmer. The thing starts good, runs like normal. What can I say.

I have used Stihl, Husqvarna and other brands of oils. It's a small machine and can be easily over worked. Like I said is still runs good and starts easy.

Due to the rocks on my property, I've considered using trimmer line on my 30" electric zero turn mower. Has anyone here tried this, and with what results? I have also considered using small chain or chainsaw chain.

Is this how you do it? Rev-rev-rev non-stop? Have I been doing it wrong this whole time?

My guess is that as I use 60 feet of line a day, half of it is left as dust and the rest is left in pieces 2 inches long or less. I do that 3 days a week and so do several million other lawn guys every summer. That is a lot of plastic spread around every year. I wonder if anyone has ever studied where that plastic goes and what effects it has. Must be a lot in the soil as the years go by. I wonder is it inert, or should we worry about it? Ask Peter Nye the science guy?

Microplastics is all the rage these days, people freaking out about how much broken-down plastic particulates are in everything from our water supplies to our own blood. It's everywhere.

Engineers and scientists are smart enough to tell you exactly how much plastic is in everything, from your gut to your dog's yard nuggets. But doctors don't seem to be able to agree on what any of it means, or if it's even a real concern at all.

So, my body is full of broken-down microplastic debris. So is yours. Does it matter?

I have seen string replacements for rotary mowers, but I can't believe that they would last very long at all.
Chains or cable would be a dangerous choice imho.
