Welcome to TBN.

My first thought is about the pump slipping on the motor shaft due to a failed key.

Can you tell if there is flow through the system and back to the tank?

Was your purchase recent enough to get a warranty repair or replacement? They're not real good on parts after the sale.

I'd take it back.

If I get 10 feet out of anything from china freight I'm excited. Its really a lease program with the landfill being the final destination. I agree with TractorGuy sending it back if thats an option will save you time. If not I would drain it and search for a clog. Most of their stuff just lacks some prep after assembly so things that should be greased are not and then get hot and freeze up. I would also reverse the swing and main boom hoses to see if that makes a difference. Good luck and its the 4th so try it with a cold beer, that can fix a lot!

I have had the HF trencher for 5 years and would say abused it several times and no problems at all, still starts on first pull. Dug holes, dug up large stumps, picked up 25 foot logs 14 inch diameter with no problems, even picked up a 10 foot by 2 foot propane tank with 75 gallons of propane in it and loaded on trailer.

Exactly. Im surprised it made 10 feet of trench. I still remember the harbor freight GFCI outlets i purchased for some temp power poles. They would not trip when cord end dropped into water. I opened up one and found there were no electronics inside them. Just an outlet . Why i was surprised i do not know.

Had mine for 4 yrs now...I abuse it to death. Moved very heavy granite boulders with it, dug out countless of oak and birch stumps. I break it, I fix it>>stronger than OEM. But what I love about it the most, lowest CG.

It sounds like there may be an issue with the hydraulic pump or a blockage in the system. Even though the fluid is full, check for leaks, loose connections, or air in the lines. You may also want to inspect the hydraulic filter or pump to ensure it's functioning correctly. If the problem persists, it might be worth contacting Harbor Freight for warranty support or a replacement.

I’ve never known Sunken Freight to sell a trencher. I’m guessing everyone is talking about their towable backhoe. Looking in their latest online manual it shows a “generous” 90 day warranty. Maybe you can make use of that, if you can’t easily fix it.

I've had mine 8 years and no problems. It has been used and abused.
