Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Speaking of clamps, one thing we did was to take a large HF C clamp, cut the bottom off right before it curves and weld it to a small chunk of C channel so it could be tacked to the middle of the table to hold something down where you can't get a regular clamp. Skinny wheel it off when you're done.

Hmm, nice. Picture???

I have a clamp similar to that which was made by Vise Grip that is probably 20 years old. I don't think that they still make them though.

Sort of like a heavy duty toggle clamp, I guess? Interesting idea.

Yes- As the diameter of the tube/hose [or in my business- airway] halves, the resistance to flow SQUARES!
This is why kids with asthma have so much trouble.
Late response but - 4th power. Flow resistance is proportional to velocity squared and velocity is proportional to 1/diameter squared. So halving the diameter increases resistance 16x. That said the shutoff valve mechanism is the biggest offender. I compare coupling resistance by blowing through a connected pair. Some half inch conventional couplings are still pretty poor.
I have some euro style couplings that are pretty good. Before that I had a special hose for the impact wrench with the valve guts removed from the coupling.

Note I found that pliers clamp tool at Tractor Supply, not HF. See my post #7616 above.

Went by TSC today.. Those clamps were in the clearance bin marked $6.99... If you guys are thinking about getting one, better hurry :)

I bought 2.

Don't have one here at the house. This is close; we'd cut the bottom off and weld on channel. Not the easiest fusing the cast to the mild, but they were never meant to be reefed on. One of these could be bolted to a chunk of channel for use as a weld on without boogering it up for woodwork.

HF use to sell them. I had a Pittsburgh brand one. Worked fine until I tried getting a little extra clamping force on something and something stretched. After that it never would stay clamped. I got it in a set of "vice" grip clamps for doing auto repair. It included several different size deep throat locking pliers as well. The set no longer includes it. 3 Piece Locking C-Clamp Set I also have a c-clamp that adjusts like that. I'm not sure who makes it though.

Well guys we killed it.

Sold out at Tractor Supply - Petaluma, and at Dixon over on I-80. Both stores' clerks told me they never heard of the tool and the stuff in those bargain bins is one-time offers so its not likely to re-appear.

Online shows its in stock at a couple more Northern California stores but incorrectly shows that one of these stores had it, too, so I wouldn't bother driving out of my way to go see.

I tried the local NH store last Thursday, no luck getting that tool. It would have been a nice addition to my tools. They did have one of those shake siphon tubes in the clearance box for $3.50 so I got one.
