Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Update on HF Hercules lithium ion hammer drill. I drove a little over 100 2-1/2" exterior screws constructing 2ft high panels for my grocery getter.

Fuel gauge on battery is showing 3 out of 4 bars.

I have both the inch and metric deep well sets in the metal case, probably 10 years old or so. I haven't managed to damage any of them them yet.

I have the same Makita and use both the HF metric and SAE impact sockets. So far so good. No complaints.

I wish I could say the same, I've broken almost all of mine, I've gone to Klutch from Northenr Tool, I had to give up on HF :( but the price was sure good - but I got what I paid for

There used to be TWO qualities of impact sockets. One was great and the other maybe no so great. I have the better sets and have used them on the Earthquake impact gun at full blast and often at 150 PSI (sorry) and no problems. I have hammered on them as well and used on some of the worst conditions possible and zero problems.

Anyone know if the sockets of today are different?

I have a big set of Klutch impacts from NT years ago both 3/8" and 1/2" was mix of chrome vanadium and Moly larger sized being cr moly smaller ones CRV They are great for the money and they don't even sell the same kit anymore, plus seems they also have changed in finish

What HF I have was metal cased 1/2" drive metrics from moons ago they been good. The newer impact sockets are quite a bit different more thicker walls and I really don't think most people can bust them.

HF fit can be a bit looser on the drive anvil end than some others but also no worse than some other names. Actually I like CRV sockets over Cr Moly more and more. I have tried quite a few import brands, They don't wear so easy or deform the drive end. Rule was always Cr Moly for impacts but their are many CRV graded impact options now

I have the HF 1/2" deep well impact sockets in both metric and SAE and haven't busted any of them, although my current pneumatic impact wrench isn't all that powerful.

Here's a tool that HF *doesn't* sell but they should! HF are you listening?

It was in the $10 tray at Tractor Supply. Link to TSC description.

I used it to clamp down a large object to my welding table. This was much simpler than a screw clamp. It will be equally good as a drill press hold down.

This is the handiest new tool I've bought recently.

Yes $10. I see it is store-only, no mailorder. I wonder if the stuff in those 'bargain bins' is a one-time opportunity rather than stocked consistently.
