Harbor Freight Liquid Transfer Pump (Stick) failures

/ Harbor Freight Liquid Transfer Pump (Stick) failures #41
I just order these ones online and right to my door. Under 10 each shipped. Made in China too.

Only thing I have done in 5 years of use is put hose clamps at the hose connection to keep on for sure.
Sometimes the on/off switch pops out of slot, but goes right back in.

Use one for diesel, kerosene and other for gas.

Man they make transfer so easy to boat tanks.

Dont know what is different about these over the HF ones. But happy with these for years.

FYI, the HF battery pump is on sale all this month for 6 bucks and change. I'll buy a few extra ones just in case.
That is a good deal, I'd but 4 for $25 but unfortunately that looks to be a deal only for HF club members.

More than a year ago, ( I want to say two but don't remember exactly), i bought one at HF. It stopped working after the first run. HF would not accept the returns, they said to call HQ. I called them and they returned my money without need to ship it back.

So, now i had a free toy to play with:
1. I opened it up, the red tube unscrews from the motor and i could access the contacts.
2. I figured that when i connect 3V power directly to the motor it works just fine.
3. Soldered 2 wires( one red and one black) red to the motor ->switch
4. Drilled a little hole in the red tube and put two wires - The black from the motor and the red from the switch out after screwing the tube back to the body of the pump
5. Glued a 2AA battery holder to the outside of the red tube
6 Connected the wires to the holder.
7 Installed 2 rechargeable AA batteries
8 Enjoy free gas pump for over a year.

If i could do it, you definitely can
I took 4 of my dead ones apart and put 3.5vdc (as low as my variable power supply would go) right to the circuit board, and 3 of the 4 spun right up.
I checked all the switches and they all function ~0 ohm-OL. The contact ring at the top and the switch mating surface is marginal at best, as is the negative strap that is supposed to touch the circuit board.
I just ordered some AA battery holders, how long does a pair last you on a charge?

This is what the inside looks like if you're interested, impeller directly on the motor shaft at the bottom, then a wire straight up to the battery board. There are no components on the board, it only routes voltage from the battery directly to the motor.

These are so handy, I will just buy more if one breaks.

I put a freshly charged pair sometime at the end of May. I use it at least one time a week transfer 15 gallons of gas to my tritoon. So far still runs strong.
Btw, in my case the vdc did not work.

Same here. For the price I consider them as throw-aways. They seem to last about as long a one battery. But handy? You Bet!

It is and I always am a member. Best 25 bucks I ever spend. I tend to consolidate all my HF purchases and I can charge well in the excess of a grand no issue usually and then get deferred payment status as well.

My last shot was over 5400 bucks btw.
