I went into Harbor Freight last weekend and they had one of the infamous quick hitches in the open box section priced $79.99. I made sure everything was there and asked the sales guy if they would accept the standard 20% coupon on it as well, he said "he didn't think so but go ask the store manager what she would be willing to take for it". I took it up to the front and asked the lady what she would take for it, she looked at it a little bit then said "how about half price ....$40" so I jumped on it and checked out. I looked at my receipt in the truck and noticed that the 20% coupon I gave her for something else I bought got applied to the $40 hitch.......I got a quick hitch to $32. For that amount I don't mind having to tinker with it a bit and buy a few bushings or adapters. So moral of the story is with Harbor Freight open box items....negotiate, never know how low they will go.

Nice find. Spend 15 more bucks and order a replacement hook from qualityfarmsupply.com. That will save you a lot of grief.

Which hook are you referring too?

I'd buy one at that price in a heart beat.

They offer a replacement top hook with more reach than the one that comes on the HF QH. It helps a great deal with hookup of implements. I was considering stopping using my HF QH until I found the replacement hook.

The hook has been out of stock for a while. They have it in stock now, so I just grabbed one. $25 with shipping. Hope it wasn't the last one!

Thanks for posting about the hook. I managed to get my quick hitch a year ago for $75 with coupon but couldn't use it due to not fitting right. Just ordered the hook.

Last time I was at Harbor Freight I forgot to use the 20% of coupon. I did buy their "mini tire changer", which worked surprisingly well on my zero turn front tires.

Have a HF part number on that changer?

That's a good price for the adapter bushings. I paid about the same, maybe a little more from Northern Tool.

Is that the correct bushings to get? They have a few to choose from and im not sure. I have also read where people use regular lynch pins along with bushings cut from metal pipe in the right diameter.

Those are correct assuming you have "regular" Cat 1 pins on your implements. Pipe and lynch pins works fine too assuming you can find pipe with the correct dimensions for both ID and OD. I briefly tried and gave up. The ready-made adapters were just a whole lot simpler and any cost difference was negligible.

I thought about NOT using the adapters with the drive-in roll pins so that it would be a little easier to convert my implements back to non-QH. But then I thought that the only reason I would do that was so that an in-law or neighbor could borrow the implement. And do I REALLY want to loan out an implement?
