GT 235 Drive Pulley

It would not go forward or reverse. I pulled the mowing deck and could see that there was play in the pulley and fan that sits atop the tranny. After tearing it all apart I get down to the pulley and fan but am not sure how to remove it. If I turn the nut the spindle turns also.

I'm assuming the spindle teeth are sheared off or possibly the key. I'm hoping it's the key.
