Good point. I've made that mistake before but this time I looked closely at the threads to make sure it wasn't.

Thank you all for the help! I picked up the right tools this morning and was successful in removing the nut. The impact wrench was rated at 1,200 FT LBS and still took about 15 seconds to break loose. But its off!

My Astro Pneumatic Thor 1/2" impact will bust any nut anywhere and if it don't it will twist the shaft apart.
