I was working for the government in Anchorage and moved to the Kenai-Soldotna area in the early '90's when my job moved there.

Yeah, I know that stretch of highway; very long, straight, and most vehicles are doing 75mph or more since they raised the limit to 65.

You probably know that Elmendorf is now combined with Fort Richardson (JBER, joint base Elmendorf-Richardson).

Yes I know that they are now JBER. They actually shared some things back when I was there, like the hospital. You could also go from base to post without having to go out on highway 1.
