This time of year we brush hog some serious feilds and the thorns kill the front carlisles. We put in the green slime and the tires self seal any small puncture! $13.00 well spent dollars!

I use something called UltraSeal for the really tough sealant jobs and love that stuff.
Ive tried various sealants and I think the Green Slime has a good reputation around here, too. We have locust thorns whick really take a toll on our tires.

While researching sealants, one sealant supplier told me, as I was complaining about a sealant that did NOT work, she informed me that on a low pressure tire, like an ATV tire, the tire needs to be pressurized up to the bead seating pressure for a little while to push the "GOOP" into the tire wound. Then I should release the air pressure to normal psi, which is 3.5 psi for my four wheeler.

After I took her advice I have had great success with tire sealants-even in low pressure tires.

OBTW, with a high pressure tire, like a boat or small trailer tire, the normal pressure is around 50-60 psi, and therefore, you get good results right off the bat.

something to think about.

I have the green stuff in all 4 of my mower tires and in one of my tractor tires. I think I am going to cut down every locust tree I can find. Anyone know how long it taked those thorns to rot? Man I hate those things. An old farmer told me they used to plant them ON POURPOSE!!

It takes many many years for the thorns to decompose. It is illegal to plant "thorned" Honey Locus in Texas...This is one law I would agree with.

I guess I better get cutting so that maybe the thorns will be gone by the time I retire. I was told today that you have to put something on the stump or they will come back. Auuuggghh!!!

It seems to me that those thorns are indistructable.

You're right, just mowing them won't kill them. In fact it can cause them to spread from the roots so you end up with a clump of them. Spraying is about the only way to kill them and you may have to do that a couple of times. Those things are tough. Even after they are dead and you mow them down, those thorns will be with you for years. Happy mowing. After my first two flats, I put the green slime in all 4 tires. No more flats!! Also, I went through my 11 acres and cut all the honey locust trees I could find, and then went back and poisoned the stumps. It's a battle, but I'm determined to win....no locust trees, no thorns, no flats!!

OK so what do you poison the stumps with?
I had an old bottle of roundup that said to use it something like 50/50 mix to kill stumps. But I will be cutting most of the trees this winter while they won't be growing. I don't want to have to wade through the briars in the spring to get to the stumps.

I remove the stumps with my BH but the roots are still alive and new trees will grow from the roots, they are Ba%$#@*!
I have found it to take two summers of spraying round up on the new sapplings to keep the sunshine from the roots and they finally die out.
I use a push mower to mulch up the thorns after felling Honey Locus and Mesquites, it is alot of work but effective.

I have a B3030. How much of the green slime did you put in your rear tires? How much did you put in your front tires? What was the procedure you used in filling the tires?

I put a 16 ounce bottle in my rear tire (BX23)
I took the weight off with the backhoe stabilizers and let all the air out. Then I took out the valve core with the tool that came with the bottle. Hooked the tube to the valve stem and squeezed untill it was all inside the tire. Replace the valve core and air up to the recomended pressure and hopefully no more slow leak.

Does anyone know how much slime I would use in my B3030 rear tires? Front tires? I have the ag tires.

There is a gauge label on the product for tire size.
