The boat owners do. They are the ones who move cargo's via contract.

LAKE SUPERIOR - Nearly 60 years after a small plane disappeared over the Great Lakes, its fate remains a mystery. Experts searching Michigan's Lake Superior last week say they didn't find any debris from a plane that crashed in 1968. A team from Michigan Technological University took to the lake by boat to get closer to 16 targets that appeared on sonar last fall. Research engineer Travis White says they found mostly trees, logs and rocks. The plane carrying three people departed from Madison, Wisconsin, to collect data from Lake Superior and was never heard from again.

There's a very nice shipwreck museum there, if you ever get near the area.

A birds eye view of the iron ore transfer from American Integrity (1978) to fleet-mate American Century (1981) a week ago at the Ash Grove Dock in Duluth. It was super cool to see since these cargo transfers don't happen often around here (the last in our area being last season when Burns Harbor unloaded into H. Lee White at the BNSF dock in Superior). Despite the issues, these vessels are truly engineering marvels being able to complete operations like this without assistance from shoreside machinery (May 30th, 2025).

There's a very nice shipwreck museum there, if you ever get near the area.

Used to be free, now they charge admission. Got a buddy that owns a home about 1/2 mile south and we used to hang there when snowmachining.
