Well, if nothing else I found out a couple of things with my PT today. First is a neat trick. You can get the seat to go all the way sideways (45 degrees) if you reach under the front of the rear right tire and depress the seat level plunger. This full extends the seat cylinder causing the seat to tilt way the heck over. I may now be able to get the grease gun in.

Second part is that the striking of the zerk on the bars under the seat may be a fluke. For those with the 1850 (and I assume the 1845) we do indeed have a "jesus" nut on the lower coupler. Mine was kinda loose (probably 3/4 of a turn). The new Boston Tools wrench showed up. Frikin monster. But I think it raised the height of the seat as I tightened things up. But who knows, its a PT.

But this all said, I won't be able to test results as the zerk was busted clean off at the base and I can't find my easy out kit.

Can you get enough clearance to install a hose and route it to the outside for future lubrication?

I don't think so. On the PT the seat rides is attached to the front of the tractor, but the zerk is attached to the back of the tractor, so the arms brush the zerk when you turn. When you turn on a hill it gets worse as the seat is tilted to accomodate the slope of the terrain...
