Grease on 3PH pins, good or bad idea?

I have used anti-seize and sometimes tri-flo spray the aid hook-ups. Grease just makes a mess. I guess if ya cover everything over with the stuff it would keep the dirt out but really what's the point? In my 40+ years around the stuff I've never seen a 3 point ball or pin wear out.

Wear out no, but stick yes. took a couple of hours heating and beating to get one out once....

It's not the wear but for ease of hookup in my experience. Things just slide together so well and the spring pins just pop right in to place.

WD-40 the pins on the implement, that's about it. I always keep a can in all my tractors.

Reese (the hitch manufacturer) sells oil to lube the ball. Looks like a light machine oil.

Well guess I'll chime in with; used motor oil. Dad always had an old pump oil can full of used oil and used it on all the pins, balls, and sickle bar. Every five trips around the field when cutting reauired a stop to lube, of course these laps stretched out as you moved towards the middle of the field. That oil can is still on the old tractor, but I don't put anything on the new stuff unless it is rusty then I will give it a squirt of the oil when I hook it up.
