Grease Gun Recommendations

/ Grease Gun Recommendations #41
I grease once or twice a month, and find it difficult to justify spending $150 on a battery operated grease gun...$250 if I need a battery and charger.

If I get one, it will need to be a Dewalt as that is what I have now for drills, etc. I saw a negative review on Amazon from one guy who found it difficult to load. Any comments on that?
No different than every other grease gun. I did unscrew the wrong end once, but that wasnt a huge problem.

I'm a Ryobi One+ man, but they dont have an electric grease gun. My GG is my first Dewalt cordless & has generally been worth it. I'd imagine the Milwaukie & Lincoln guns are similar class. It comes down to what battery type are you.

The first thing I did was replace the tip with a Lock 'n Lube. I got the long one this time, not sure if it's worth it over the normal LnL. But greasing 1 handed with a LnL & battery power sucks WAY less than it would otherwise.

I keep two grease guns in my truck I drive to our property. One is a pistol grip with a rigid pipe and one is lever style with a flexible hose. I prefer the pistol. Both are Walmart special and have worked for years.

If you want my recommendation, go for "Lincoln Lubrication 1134 Heavy Duty".

I agree. With a hose and a lock-n-lube. I don't see a need for an electric or pneumatic gun, I'm just servicing one tractor/loader/BH and attachments.

I think you would be better served to give us idea how much you use it, how many fittings you are greasing, where are you doing the work and any special needs such as access.

I have a Pneumatic Craftsman and it works well. Yes near air but I do 99% of my greasing at my shop. However maybe only on this gun but it might not be pushing grease even when it sounds like it is working fine. I will not use it for a joint where you can not see greasing coming out when it is well greased. Such as mower spindles. For me the battery ones are just too costly. I have think three lever guns, have them in different locations where I use them. Back to mower spindles I can count the pumps and know they are being greased and good idea the amount. Much of this is just users preference.

Thanks for the info on the Dewalt gun. Might wait to find one on sale as I can make do with my mini pistol grip type.

No way I would buy a pneumatic gun. Would rather pump by hand than start the compressor and deal with a long hose.

I agree. I think keeping it simple and less costly is the way I want to go.
I thank everybody here for their help!

After you run 3-4 tubes of grease you'll be glad for the battery option. I had a Lincoln and it was junk. How people still use the hand pump style is beyond me. I can get in areas unreachable with only one hand once I connect the valve. Hold down the trigger and fill er up. Greasing by had used to be work, now it's actually reasonable to do the same job.

I think I have one of each presented here, and they all suck
Well other than the battery operated ones

Maybe it is new, but there is a ryobi One+ grease gun.

Not practical for most of us. Not spending nearly $900 for a grease gun. Hard for some of us to justify a $200 Dewalt.

It may be appropriate for a heavy equipment mechanic who needs to pump grease all day, but for most of us, yea a $200 Dewalt is more than adequate

"a $200 DeWalt is more than adequate"????
The $60 Lincoln pneumatic #1162 is "more than adequate" for me.
I grease two machines....two or three times each year.

If they work for you, more power to you!
I will take my dewalt

I am absolutely certain I would love your DeWalt too.
It is simply the DeWalt PRICE I dislike.

DeWalt = $265 on Amazon.
Lincoln pneumatic= $71 on Amazon ($60 elsewhere)

Well....
Let me relate this to your Ford tractor you recently sold...
I defended you in it as well.
Many people liked the tractor, but felt the price was way to high
You felt the price was justifiable......

:confused3:

I guess it is all in how you view something.....

Oh...... you are absolutely correct
As I stated above:
I am certain I would love the DeWalt, but for two tractors, and a total of 30 hours each year, I am very happy to keep the $200 difference, to be spent on something else.
Short of unlimited funds, it is all about priorities.

As to the naysayers on the Ford 3400: They were simply ...... WRONG!
It sold to the first person who looked at it!

Yup, and if it makes me want to grease my $50K worth of equipment more regularly than I did with my POS 5- manual grease guns I have hanging on the wall, I will buy another $189 Dewalt grease gun if I need some day

That was kinda my logic when I bought mine. And so far it’s working.
