Hey guys, need some help with a hopefully simple repair. I was greasing up the FEL and snapped off a fitting. My question is how do you remove the remaining piece that is left in? What tool do I need to buy and any tips that I should know.

Thanks in advance for you help!

Buy a very small screw extractor for that job. Although sometimes even a very small screwdriver works. And I know nothing about the company in the link; just the first good picture I found of a screw extractor (or as we used to call them, an EaZ Out).

I had the same thing happen. Used a screw /bolt extractor. I think it was a kit of different sizes I got from Sears awhile back. I think they were on sale at the time and only cost a couple of bucks.
It's easy 'cause the fitting is hollow, no need to drill. Got some grease fittings at a NAPA store. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

This could be a good place to get information, but we don't know what kind of loader you're working on, or where you are located, filling in your profile would help a lot.
I broke one of the fittings in my 60 in. MMM and borrowed one out of my FEL to grease the MMM. When I went to replace the borrowed fitting, I assued that the Kubota loader would have metric fittings, so that is what I bought at Tractor Supply. When I went to replace the fitting, I needed the standard thread fitting. If we knew what you were working on, someone could possibly let you know what you need and where to get it. Tractor Supply also has the tool to remove broken fittings. Since you didn't fill out your profile, all this info may be totally useless, but I wasn't doing anything else anyhway.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

First, thanks for the replies!

Sorry about the lack of info. The fitting is from the LA211 (BX2230). It's the fitting down by the bucket (there is one on each side).

Are the fittings on the LA211 metric or standard? I’ll buy from Tractor Supply if they have a specific tool for it otherwise I'll pick up an extractor set.

Mike, I can't say for sure on your rig, but I think that everything is metric on the tractors and SAE on the loaders for Kubotas.

use a #2 easy out, do not use a # 1, they break off to easy. well you can use a # 1 but if requires very much pressure STOP! SWITCH TO A #2 , if the #2 is to big for the little hole drill the hole and make it bigger. the drill size should be engraved on the side of the easy out.

Same thing happend to me, but it was a right angle zerk at the top of the left arm. My neighbor tried an EA-Z-Out but it was too tight and broke. He took it out and took it home and used a Tap and Die set on it. It depends how tight it is. I would try what fish_whisperer said in the post above mine.

just another note,,,,, if you drill into the old zerk first hold the new one up and estimate how deep you need to go to get through it then put a peice of tape on the drill bit, wrap it around the bit so when you get to the tape thats far enough. if the easy out dont grab good enough, grind a little off the end of it to make it shorter, this will make it fatter so it will grab better.
